Blurb:
Book 8 in the New Species series. Dr. Allison Baker is obsessed with saving the comatose New Species male. She has tried everything and there's only one option left. Alli will break every rule and put her life in danger by tempting 880 to wake, using only her feminine scent and touch. She just has to kidnap him and crawl into bed with him to make it work. 880 wakes in a different world with a small female who's been sleeping beside him, caressing him and wrapping her sweet body around his, teasing his senses. He lies silent and still, listening and evaluating each arousing touch, fighting his body's reaction. Hatred flares when he discovers she's human, but Mercile stole everything from him so he decides it's fair to take her in return. But things quickly change and he wants her at his side and in his bed. 880 has chosen a new name-Obsidian-the personification of dark and dangerous. He'll fight them all to keep Alli. No one will stand in his way.
My Review:
Dr Allison Baker breaks the rules and risks everything to save the comatose New Species male in her care. When he awakens 880 takes the name Obsidian and he won’t let anyone stand in his way of keeping Alli in this captivating erotic paranormal romance.
Allison believes that she has a way to wake 880 from his coma but due to the situation she is forbidden to do so. The reader can’t help but get up caught in the fast paced and smooth flowing plot as Alli risks everything to do what she feels she has to do. 880 captures the heart as the reader experiences his situation upon waking up in freedom surrounded by New Species and humans that he is supposed to trust and the only person that he can rely on is breakable but their attraction burns hotter the more they around each other and he can’t seem to let her out of his sight. There are lots of emotional ups and downs for these strong captivating characters as they draw the reader in and ensure that the reader wants to know their whole story.
Never a dull moment as Obsidian tries to adjust to his new life and to emotions that flare out of control which make him a might bit aggressive and causes quite a bit of friction and problems with the rest of the NSO and let’s not forget that Alli is still in trouble and the outcome may not be in her's or Obsidian's favor which adds a whole new spin on their situation. The well written scenes and details paint vivid images that capture the imagination and bring the story to life and the well thought out suspense keeps readers on their toes and guessing what will happen next.
Laurann Dohner has once again woven a spellbinding tale of romance, passion, hope, love, family and loyalty and I was completely enthralled with Obsidian’s story. On a different note, I loved the teasing interaction between Fury and his son and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

About Laurann Dohner:
I had a rather short area here telling a little about myself but then I had more than a few people ask me to expand it so... here goes. LOL. I'm a full time home 'supervisor' which is a nice word for saying I'm a housewife. I'm happily married, I met my dream guy in 1989, and we have 4 children. I live in Nevada and I can't function without iced coffee. I believe in romance, I've always been a daydreamer, and I'm a HUGE fan of books - always have been.
No, I didn't know that I always wanted to write. I inhaled books as a child. I read entire series (Pippi Longstocking, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, Trixie Beldon, The Borrowers, etc) in a matter of days. By the time I turned nine years old I had an adult library card where I visited often. I moved on to John Saul, Stephen King, Richard Laymon, Agatha Christie, and then found romance. I got hooked. I wrote poetry in my teens and then moved on to short stories. I started to write my first book after I read a real bomb of one that ticked me off with really horrible characters and a plot that was shabby at best. I thought...I could do better!
I wrote my first book which will probably never see the light of day in the early 90's. I wrote a series of books from it. I'm a series fan! I kept writing for fun, wrote MANY books and then in 2009 I decided to attempt to get published. I wrote my first Sci Fi romance and Ral's Woman came to be. I submitted it and with a little tweaking, Ellorascave sent me an acceptance letter. It was kind of a 'Cinderella' experience for me. It's been a terrific ride so far and I'm really happy. It's a dream come true.
