My Review:

Failing his task means his death for the dark elf Korvain but killing the valkyrie Bryn may just destroy his heart in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.

This steady paced, smooth flowing and intriguing plot draws readers in with lot of suspense and romance. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the story as Korvain worms his way into Bryn’s life and dreams in order to find her weakness and complete his task but the closer he gets the harder that task becomes. Bryn is a strong willed valkyrie that captures the heart with her loyalty and drive to protect her sister valkyries and the attraction between her and Korvain burns hot but the relationship has too many secrets to progress smoothly. 

The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and bring the story to life while the well orchestrated suspense ensures that the reader can’t put the book down until they have read every last word. Spine tingling excitement builds throughout the story as the danger escalates not only from Korvain’s guild master but also from Loki who is determined to kill Byrn and all the valkyries for vengeance.  The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning especially Korvain and Bryn who both have very good reasons to fight their growing bond.

The author has created a fascinating world with some captivating characters, interesting elements and an intriguing spin on Norse mythology that kept me fascinated with the story and on my toes with some intriguing twists.  The story does start off a little on the slower side to me but it quickly picked up and I found myself immersed in all the intrigue and the complex plot.

About Lauren Dawes:

I am the author of The Half Blood Series and The Dark Series. Both are written in the urban fantasy genre with hints of paranormal romance thrown in.

 

My first book, Half Blood, was published in April 2012 via Amazon KDP. I was really just testing the waters of my writing, but with the success of Half Blood, I also released Half Truths and Half Life in the same year. It's been a whirlwind ever since with the release of the fourth book in the series, Half Cast, being released late in 2013.

 

The Dark Series is another one of my creations. I've always been fascinated by mythology, especially the Norse gods and eddas. I'm currently working on the second book in this series, hoping to have it completed some time before the end of this year (fingers crossed!)
