This is the second book in the Hearts of the Fallen. I have not had the pleasure of reading the first one yet, but I had no trouble becoming completely engaged with this book. I will certainly be reading the first, The Demon’s Song and looking for future books in this series.
The author has created a hidden world of angels, fallen angels, vampires and demons that is intriguing and entertaining. The characters are bewitching and draw the reader deeper into the story ensuring the craving for more.
The suspense in the story builds as the hero and heroine, Meresin and Dru, leave on a journey to try to help Meresin with his overload of power before it destroys him. His enemies are waiting in the shadows and he is fighting with everything he is against his attraction to Dru.
Meresin is a fallen angel that the reader can’t help but fall in love with and root for in his journey. Dru is a strong female warrior that is determined that Meresin deserves her help as well as her love. You can’t help but be impressed with her strength of resolve and faith.
I was delightfully surprised and pleased with the sex scene between the couple. It was well worth the wait and well written.
I was a little disappointed with the final battle with Meresin’s enemy and the conclusion of his journey. It was a little short, it’s good but it could have been better if it had been expanded on. Otherwise I found this book to be a very enjoyable read.
