The second book in The Awakening series is an intriguing and entertaining read full of suspense, love, and discovery.
The author’s version of a shifter genre is a well thought out and engaging world that will keep the reader coming back for more. It has all the elements of a great series; love and romance, bonding and eternity, suspense and secrets, discovery and self awareness. The characters are strong and bewitching and are easily related to.
The heroine is a strong character that has to deal with her family problems while discovering that the love of her life is from a whole other world that she didn’t believe existed. The hero is a strong character that has to overcome his aversion to telling the woman he loves the truth about the secrets of his world. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, but they have a few communication problems. The sex in the story was proportionate to what was happening in the plot and very well written.
Liam sets out to protect Ava whether she likes it or not and the suspense builds as they the couple try to win against an enemy that has manipulated them in a very sick game to exact a revenge only he understands. The action ensues as they investigate and try to stop the insane madman before he destroys everything the couple has to live for.
I was completely entertained by this shifter world and I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I have not read the first book in this series but the author gives intriguing hints about the first book and its characters but doesn’t overload with too much information, this catches the reader up with what’s going on in this world, so that this book can be read without reading the first one first.
