Home is where her heart is...
When Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her little boy after two years away, she has completely changed her life. She's made peace with her past and overcome the negative behavior that resulted from her difficult childhood. Now she's back in the small town that was the closest thing to "home" she ever knew—the town where she can be with the sister who's her only family.
There's just one catch. Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek, at least until he moves to Reno to open a branch of the Amos brothers' auto body shop. And no matter how hard she's tried, Presley hasn't been able to get over him. Seeing him again makes the longing so much worse. But she hopes she can get through the next few months, because she can't fall back into his arms…or his bed. She's come too far to backslide now. And there's a secret she's been guarding—a secret she'll do anything to protect.
My Review:
The sixth book in the Whiskey Creek series is a riveting romantic read. After two years away, Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her son in tow. She’s turned her life around and she can be close to her sister, there’s just one catch, the one man she could never get over, Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek. She can’t backslide and give into her longings no matter how much she wants to because she’s guarding a secret – one that she’ll do anything to protect.
This steady paced plot keeps readers entertained with lots of suspense, drama and romance that capture the heart. The author brings this story to life with well written words, vivid imagery and details and the characters are strong, compelling and easily related to ensuring that the reader gets caught up in the story.
The attraction between Presley and Aaron in undeniable and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but the relationship is a mess. The couple both have some serious past issues that complicate the way they see things, handle things and of course the entire non communication thing they have going on. The author conveys all the emotions and personalities with such vibrant intensity that the reader can’t help but get emotionally involved in the story and see it through to the end with tears, some laughs and some genuine happy feeling moments.
The author brings true romance to life with her stories, by this I mean that no one is perfect, no instant true love forever because life isn’t a fairy tale and the author sticks to what’s real. This adds lots of depth to the stories and make the happily ever afters seem more lifelike. This story is no different and the plot has some surprising twist that I certainly didn’t see coming to spice it up even more. I can’t wait to read the next Whiskey Creek novel, maybe it’ll be Riley’s or Kyle’s story.

About Brenda Novak:
(Off Goodreads)
It was a shocking experience that jump-started Brenda Novak’s bestselling author career.
“I caught my day-care provider drugging my children with cough syrup and Tylenol to get them to sleep while I was away,” Brenda says. “It was then that I decided that I needed to do something from home.”
However, writing was the last profession she expected to undertake. In fact, Brenda swears she didn’t have a creative bone in her body. In school, math and science were her best subjects, and when it came time to pick a major in college, she chose business.
Abandoning her academic scholarship to Brigham Young University at the age of 20 in order to get married and start a family, Brenda dabbled in commercial real estate, then became a loan officer.
“When I first got the idea to become a novelist, it took me five years to teach myself the craft and finish my first book,” Brenda admits. “I learned how to write by reading what others have written. The best advice for any would-be author: read, read, read….”
Brenda sold her first book, and the rest is history. Many of her novels have won or placed in contests such as the National Reader's Choice, the Bookseller's Best, the Write Touch, the Award of Excellence and the Beacon Award for Published Authors.
