Review: The Shifter's Choice by Jenna Kernan

Blurb:

They took his humanity…but left a hero's heart.

Feisty and street-wise, Private Sofia Touma has too much at stake to risk being distracted from her duty to the marine corps. That is, until she's assigned to help the compelling and disabled veteran Johnny Lam. More than a war hero, he's also a werewolf who can't shift back to human form. And Sofia is quickly, inexplicably drawn to him. Unlike Sofia, Johnny understands the risks involved in her loving a monster. But with each day bringing them closer together, he isn't sure he'll be able to continue to do the honorable thing…or protect her from the enemies intent on keeping him a werewolf forever.

My Review:

Johnny is a werewolf who can’t shift back to human form and he’s he keeps scaring off everyone they bring in to help him until they send the feisty and street wise Sofia to help him in this riveting paranormal romance. The story has some interesting elements that add spice and depth to this fascinating world that the author created. I haven’t read The Vampire’s Wolf (yet) but I was completely caught up in this story from the very beginning although I did feel as if I missed out on the events that lead up to Johnny’s predicament. I couldn’t find any information whether there are going to be more books related to these two but I hope so.

About Jenna Kernan:

Jenna writes fast-paced romantic adventures. Set in out-of-the-way places and populated with larger-than-life characters, Jenna's stories pit independent heroes and heroines against the forces of nature.

Happily married to her college sweetheart, Jenna shares a love for the outdoors with her husband. The couple enjoys all types of treasure hunting and this pursuit has taken them to many remote locations. They have dredged for gold in rivers in North Carolina, Colorado and California, dug for diamonds in Arkansas, searched for sapphires in Montana, by bush plane to the Brooks Mountain Range north of the Arctic Circle searching for gold nuggets and most recently screened for shark's teeth in a Southern river.

Jenna's first Western historical, WINTER WOMAN, was published in 2003 and was nominated for Best First Book for both the RITA and the HOLT Medallion. Jenna continues to write Westerns, but is not afraid to try new things. In 2007, she sold a paranormal romance, DREAM STALKER, to Silhouette Nocturne. Jenna now writes both Western and paranormal romance for Harlequin.

Jenna owns one pet, a rescued cockatiel that was captured, hungry and thirsty, wandering about in a minor league baseball stadium in Florida and whom Jenna believed was male until her little bird constructed a nest behind Jenna’s keyboard and proceeded to lay 13 eggs.

When not writing, Jenna loves discovering new places. She admits to a bad case of wanderlust and plans to wear out a good many pairs of shoes exploring. In addition to writing, traveling and treasure hunting, Jenna loves to scuba dive. Tamer pursuits include presenting workshops on the craft of writing, enjoying her family and friends, hosting an annual writers’ tea to raise money for Heifer International™ and reading romances, of course! Jenna loves fan mail, so write to her at Jenna Kernan, PMB 158, 3 South Ridge Plaza, Rye Brook, NY 10573, or e-mail her.
