Review: Just His Taste (Guys and Godmothers #3) by Candice Gilmer

Blurb:

Even Fairy Godmothers can make the wrong call.

Guys and Godmothers, Book 3

Avalynn Fay is not a typical Fairy Godmother. She wears leather body suits, rides motorcycles, and prefers bourbon to anything fru-fru. Probably why she is assigned new charge, Jason Gregorian—a PI who drinks bourbon and loves to cook barbecue.

Jason’s a good guy. Generally decent. Even willing to pretend to be his ex-girlfriend Tessa’s date for a wedding, so she won’t be alone while her ex struts around with his latest squeeze on his arm.

Should be easy, right?

All Ava has to do is talk to him, feel him out a bit, and she’ll know exactly how to get the wheels in gear. Except when she meets Jason, suddenly no one is good enough for him. Not even Tessa, his intended Happily Ever After.

It’s enough to make a fairy godmother want a healthy shot of bourbon—right before she breaks all the rules.

Warning: Contains a fairy godmother who’s ready to spread her wings—and maybe a few other appendages—for a mortal hot enough to make her drive her motorcycle right off the road.

My Review:

Avalynn Fay is not a typical Fairy Godmother so when her charges’ intended HEA isn’t good enough for him she breaks all the rules in this charming fairy tale of a romance.

Jason Gregorian is a good, decent guy who is even willing to go on a fake date with his ex to help her out so Avalynn’s job as his Fairy Godmother should be easy and the reader has no trouble at all falling in the same trap as Avalynn as she sets out to do her job and everything that could go wrong does…or does it go oh so righ?. Breaking all the rules may not be what’s right but in this case it sure is a h*** of a lot of fun as Jason and Ava’s desires for each other burn hot enough to scorch Olympus but the relationship is doomed because her actions have consequences that could keep them apart for ever. The characters are strong, captivating and enchant readers from the very beginning and the fast pace and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation with suspense, fun and romance.

Vivid images painted by the well written scenes and details bring the story to life and draw the reader into a charming and fascinating world of fairies, gods and happily ever afters. But mischief can be found too as someone is messing with Ava’s charge which adds spice and excitement to the story and the betrayal helps put her on her the chopping block as far as her job is concerned.

I have to say I was completely bewitched by this refreshingly different and smolderingly sexy romance that puts HEA is a whole other light. I have not read the previous two books in this series (yet), it’s wasn’t necessary for me to get complete enjoyment out of this one and I am looking forward to reading the new series that Candice Gilmer has planned.

About Candice Gilmer:

“Mom! Can’t you work in here???” bellows Candice Gilmer’s seven-year old.

“No,” Candice replies, knowing that Spongebob Squarepants will kill the ability to write anything even remotely sexy.

Not that she sits far away – a mere twenty feet away from the television and her daughter. Still, that twenty feet is evidently more than the child can handle. The two-year-old, however, has no problem with Mom in the other room, and is happily clanking his trucks around, making the sirens go off non-stop.

Candice wonders who bought the noisy toys, and thinks if she can remember, they're going off the Christmas card list.

“But Mom… I’m hungry…”

The two-year-old’s enjoyment of his truck ends because he comes into the kitchen, grabs a bag of gummie treats and thrusts them, along with his sippy cup at Candice. Evidently he desires food too.

And such is the daily life of one Candice Gilmer, Mommy and Writer. She does have a day job, well, an evening job, as a hairdresser, and has done that for over fifteen years. Meanwhile, writing was always in the back of her mind.

Even as a kid, she was telling stories, memorizing “Cinderella,” the voices Mommy used and all, and could recite it on demand at two.

Telling stories comes naturally to Candice, a genetic trait of the family.

If you don’t believe her, go to one of her family barbecues – everyone tells stories, from her grandfather, her uncles, her brother, to her mom. There’s no short, one liners from her family. Every story is a production, slightly exaggerated, and usually hysterical.

And if you’re not careful, you might get roped in and not be able to get out.
