Review: Taken (Shadow Creek Shifters #2) by Madison Johns

Katlyn settles into life at the Wyoming ranch of Shadow Creek, but now that she’s pregnant with the twins of her mates, mountain lion shifters Brendan and Chase, she’s more than a little nervous. How will her mates handle it when they learn she’s pregnant with twins, and will it change their intimate encounters? She hopes not, since she prefers to be taken any way possible.

Tessa’s transition to vampire has not been easy. The blood bank supply doesn’t suit her tastes and the medication that helps with the cravings has more side effects than it’s worth. Forced to feed her hunger on her own, Tessa goes searching away from Shadow Creek. Instead of hunting a wayward wild animal, she mistakenly attacks the new werewolf alpha, Raphael, who easily fends her off and hauls her back to Shadow Creek with his friend, Seth, along.

The arrival of the alpha and the mystery man sets Katlyn’s mind spinning as Brendan clams up and it’s clear that he and Seth have a history—one that her mate is not willing to discuss with her. Will Katlyn be able to help Tessa and sort out the mystery surrounding Seth’s appearance in Creeksboro, or does he pose a real danger to them all?

My Review:

There is a mystery man in town, Tessa has attacked Raphael, the werewolf alpha and Katlyn in pregnant with twins and more than a little nervous about how well her Mates, Chase and Brendan will handle it in this captivating paranormal romance.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the passion that burns up the pages but it is their relationship that really draws them in as Katlyn’s life with her two mates gets more fascinating - she has to adjust to living with two mountain lion shifters and their differences, not to mentions teaching shifter children, helping Tessa handle her new life and of course being pregnant with not one but two babies. The anticipation and the small shifter town setting really adds depth and spice the story because of all the fascinating characters and the emotionally gripping stories that brought them all to this one place.

I was completely caught up in the story from the beginning and couldn’t put it down and I want to point out that though the stories are best read in order you don’t have to read Katlyn first to enjoy this one because that’s what happened to me, of course I am certainly curious enough about how this threesome arrived at this point so I will be taking care of that very soon and I can’t wait to read Tessa’s story and then hopefully Angus’s won’t be too far behind.

About Madison Johns:

Although new to the paranormal romance genre, USA Today Bestseller Madison Johns has proven her staying power. She committed to not only writing her first serial, but she quickly moved on with her Shadow Creek series, spawning her first menage novella, Katlyn, a Kindle All-Star title. From there came book two, Taken the continuation of Brendan, Chase, and Katlyn's story. Madison has plans to have book three, Tessa out in January, which will feature the alpha werewolf Raphael, a newly turned vampire, Tessa, and Seth a human. It will prove to me an interesting triad for sure. Also planned for 2015 is Angus's story minus the menage element.

Wearing two hats writing wise has proven to be quite challenging, but Madison is ready for both the challenge and the excitement of creating new paranormal romances for not just her Shadow Creek Shifters, but a new and yet untitled series in 2015.

If you asked Madison how she likes writing fantasy, she's tell you, "Hey, I've been fantasying for years. At least now I type them up into stories that readers will enjoy."
