Welcome to The Haunting of Hope House by Astrid Addams. I hope you enjoy your visit.
MY REVIEW
The Haunting of Hope House by Astrid Addams is her debut novel and I am impressed. It reminds me of The Shining, except we have an additional threat, the money that her dead husband owed to the thugs.
Alice inherited the house and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Her daughter, Madison, had an ability to sense the pain of some people and some places, and Hope House was oozing misery. It had a sordid past, and most people would have run away screaming as soon as they saw it.
Alice felt it was all good, even though the house looked like it hadn’t been lived in for a long time. It looked like it would fall down if you breathed on it. Half the house was closed off, locked up tight. Was it to keep something in or something out?
The first night…a rough one. And it’s all downhill from there.
It is a good thing she has family like Madison, with her special skills, a son like Ralf, and a brother like Gary. They have some rough patches, but they stick by her through thick and thin.
And…the welcoming committee…Agatha, who, well…
I think Astrid did a great job with this novella. She has given us a lot of creepy action and some cool mystery. I didn’t put it together and I love that she was able to string me along. The Haunting of Hope House has all the ghostly and haunting things that come with a haunted house, bad smells, sounds in the night, and so much more. I will be looking for more from this author, because I think she will only get better with time.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of The Haunting of Hope House by Astrid Addams.
