Check out Veereads on FB for two additions courtesy of the London Guardian newspaper. They might be of interest.
First, there is a very bold feature that presents a list of the 100 Best Novels in English. Toni Morrison did not even make the cut. Nuff said? Well, you can at least amuse yourself with how many of those you might have already perused.
Next, there is a short-lister of the Gordon Burn prize for innovation in literature. You have got to see this one. One of the judges said:
To me, reading this book was dream-like as I sequenced between nostalgia and explicitly remembered detail. The narrative scenarios drew me into a believable world that was also a kind of science fiction. I loved the way that Honor played with language peppering the pages with a wonderful mix of colloquiums and made up words that brought me closer to the heart of the world I was suspended in.
The interview with author Honor Gavin is an eye-opener. I won't spoil the surprise.
