Not Even Death Keeps a Good Demoness Down
There’s never an end to the crazy when you’re demon spawn. Not that Faith Bettincourt’s complaining. She’s been patching things up with her angelic on-again off-again boyfriend, Matt, and her best-friend-turned-sister-in-law is soon giving birth to the Anti-Christ Part Deux. Oh, and Faith is saving kids from Death in her pediatric unit one soul at a time. Life is good.
Until Faith accidentally runs over the Angel of Death and is forced to take his place. Now she’s taking lives instead of saving them. Which is kind of a problem when you’re a nurse. As if that weren’t bad enough, she is suddenly thrust into the worst scenario of them all--Matt’s ex Brenda is back, and she’s brought the Apocalypse with her.
Faith’s not about to give up the world...or her man. But when the chips are down, what’s a demoness supposed to do? Besides take matters into her own hands, of course.
My Review:
The third book in the Speak of the Devil series is an action packed paranormal urban fantasy romance.
Demoness and pediatric nurse Faith Bettincourt is not complaining, life is good; she’s patching things up with her on again off again angelic boyfriend, her best-friend-turned-sister-in-law is soon giving birth to the Anti-Christ part deux and she’s saving kids in the pediatric unit from death. Then she’s forced to take the Angel of Death’s place when she accidentally runs over him, starting a chain of events that starts off the Apocalypse. But Faith’s not about to give up the world – or her man, so what’s a girl supposed to do – take matters into her own hands of course.
This fast and smooth flowing plot keeps the reader on the edge of their seats with lots of suspense, action and romance. The author brings this story to life with vivid images and details capturing the imagination of the reader. The characters are mesmerizing and easily related to even if they do have the power to destroy the world as we know it.
There is some romance between Faith and Matt and a couple of other characters which adds depth to this urban fantasy. The tension builds as the reader follows Faith to not only finds out if she can stop the Apocalypse, but to find out if she gets her man. The story catchers the reader’s attention and doesn’t let go until the very end.
The author has created a fantasy world with a humorous and dramatic twist on mythology that I found to be really enjoyable and refreshingly different from others that I have read. I love the charming characters and the action scenes are well written and believable. I haven’t read the first two books…yet, but I was able to figure out what’s what without the author giving too much away. I am definitely going to read the first two and be on the lookout for more books by Patricia Eimer.

About Patricia Eimer:
(Off the author’s site)
I'm a small town girl who was blessed with a large tree in the backyard that was a perfect spot for reading on summer days. Mixed with too much imagination it made me a bratty child but fated me to become a storyteller. After a stint of “thinking practically” in my twenties I earned degrees in Business and Economics and worked for a software firm in southwestern Germany but my passion has always been a good book. I currently lives in Pittsburgh with my two wonderful kids and a husband that learned the gourmet art of frozen pizzas to give me more time to write. When I'm not writing I can be found fencing and arguing with my dogs about plot points. Most days the Beagle wins but the Dalmatian is in close second. I'm in a distant third.
