'I really enjoyed this foray into the past' Miki's Hope reviews It Had To Be You by Delynn Royner
"It is the age of prohibition and no one knows who is worse--the bad guys or the bad cops and there are plenty of both in this mystery. Then there is tenacious Trixie Frank, reporter who is determined to make a name for herself in spite of her rich Daddy! Sean is perhaps the only decent and honest cop around, or so it seems and when Trixie and Sean get together to figure out who murdered the gangster sparks fly! Then there is little Danny--an orphan who lives on the street and steals (or tries to) Trixie's pocketbook. Trixie took pity on him and gives him her phone number and tells him she will help him get a job Later that night he witnesses a murder and is the only one who can identify the killers.
I have to say I loved the character of Danny--that little rapscallion--and was very happy that his ending was one that will make all happy. The interaction between males and females were definitely taken from that period of time and will make you smile! So who were the good guys and who the bad? And was the killer found? I have to warn you that this is written in Brooklynese with a bit of Irish thrown in--but it fits right in to the time period. I really enjoyed this foray into the past!!"
