Blood Chills (Blood Hunters #5) by Marie Treanor

(Off Goodreads)

From sensitivity to sensuality...with the vampire who chills her blood

Cyn can sense undead presence from a touch, from the feel of the air. Her gift leads her mercenary band of hunters on the trail of a monster who's killed two women in New York - to the being Cyn least wants to set eyes on again: the Hungarian vampire, Bela.

Now the iconic violinist with a local rock band, Bela seems less interested in proving his innocence - if, indeed, he is innocent - than in seducing Cyn - no easy task when the very presence of vampires sickens her. Plus Cyn wants revenge for the murdered women, and for her partner Rudy who lies in hospital, critically injured.

But neither Cyn's gifts, nor the killer she pursues, are exactly what they seem. Allying with Bela might be a lethal mistake, but as everyone she loves comes under attack, Cyn finally learns to trust her instincts, and discovers much more than the intense physical pleasures behind her chills.

My Review:

The fifth book in the Blood Hunter series is a thrilling read that keeps in readers in shivering in suspense and sensual delight.  With her sense of the undead by touch or the feel from the air, Cyn leads her mercenary band of hunters on the trail of a monster.  Her trail leads her to the Hungarian vampire Bela who is now playing in a local band and doesn’t seem as interested in proving his innocence – if he is – than he does in seduction her. But Cyn soon discovers that all is not what it seems with this killer that she pursues and as everyone she loves comes under attack, she’ll have to learn to trust her instincts.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, action and romance.  The author uses well written scenes and events which inspire vivid images that capture the imagination and well orchestrated action scenes that grab the reader’s attention.  The spine tingling suspense and the sensual pleasure throughout draws the reader deeper into the story and the strong compelling characters are easily related to and have the reader wanting to know more.

The attraction between Cyn and Bela radiates heat from every page and the sex scenes are hot and steamy.  The relationship however is rocky and has sparks flying in every direction, Bela hunts vampires and she’s super sensitive to their presence which makes things interesting for Bela when he decides to pursue her and the fact that he is Cyn’s latest suspect in her hunt for the monster just adds lots of spice to this already rockin’ romance.

I always enjoy Marie’s books and this one is no different, the tenuous detente between the vampires and hunters continues to keep things interesting, and the characters are captivating and inspire curiosity that keeps the readers coming back for more.  The author adds some surprises along the way and keeps the reader guessing with some tantalizing twists and turns.
