Lucy Kendall returns from a tour of the Continent, her luggage filled with the latest fashions and a mind fired by inspiration. After tasting Europe’s best confections, she’s sure she’ll come up with a recipe that will save her father’s struggling candy business and reverse their fortunes. But she soon discovers that their biggest competitor, the cheat who swindled her father out of his prize recipe, has now hired a promotions manager–a cocky, handsome out-of-towner who gets under Lucy’s skin.
Charlie Clarke’s new role at Standard Manufacturing is the chance of a lifetime. He can put some rough times behind him and reconnect with the father he’s never known. The one thing he never counted on, however, was tenacious Lucy Kendall. She’s making his work life miserable…and making herself impossible for him to forget.

Reader review . . .
Lucy returns home from Europe only to find that her father's candy company is about to be sold. She makes it her goal to save the company from the competition, only to discover that the competition is always mysteriously one step ahead of her. Meanwhile, she must choose whether to marry for the sake of her family, or follow her heart.
At first, this novel did not really capture my attention. I stayed with it to read about the candy, to be honest with you. But about halfway through, the pace picks up and I found myself wanting to know what happened to Lucy and her family's company. But the candy is still an integral part of the plot. I even learned the meaning of a couple of candy-making terms that I never understood before. The author is either experienced at making candy, or did her research really well, which I appreciate.
Lucy and Charlie are both interesting characters. Their attraction to one another is reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet. Their families have been in competition with one another for years, but Lucy and Charlie find it difficult to fight the love they have for one another.
It's a fun read, but don't read it until you either stock up on candy, or hide it from yourself. Either way, you will find yourself craving candy all throughout the book.
