Review: Dragon Knight's Sword (Order of the Dragon Knights #1) by Mary Morgan

Blurb:

Order of the Dragon Knights

Duncan Mackay will do anything to lift the curse from his family — even forfeit his own life. But his plans change when he encounters the woman from his dreams, literally. She is from the future, somehow has his lost sword, and can talk to the Dragon that is able to lift his family’s curse.

Brigid O'Neill has spent her life listening to the mythological legends from Ireland and Scotland. So, when an ancient sword lands at her doorstep and she starts dreaming of a rugged Highlander, she drops everything and takes on a quest that will alter everything she believes.

Before their journey ends, not only will Duncan and Brigid battle an ancient curse, they must also find the courage to believe in the destiny that brought them together.

My Review:

A Dragon Knight battles for redemption in this enthralling fantasy romance.  Duncan McKay will do anything to lift the curse from his family – even forfeit his own life.  An ancient sword lands on Brigid O’Neill’s doorstep and she embarks on a quest that will alter everything she believes in. Together they must find the courage to believe in the destiny that brought them together.

This steady to fast paced plot keeps readers keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, drama, magic, and romance.  The author brings this adventurous tale to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and the well orchestrated drama and suspense draw the reader deeper into the story and ensure that they want to know more.  The strong compelling characters including half human half fae knights, goddesses, druids and a dragon are easily related to and captivate readers until they have read the very last page.

The attraction between Brigid and Duncan immediately flares hot and strong from their first meeting in their dreams and explodes with more heat upon first meeting and the sex scenes sizzle with lots of scorching passion. But the characters believe that the relationship is doomed due to the fact that she is from the distant future and Duncan has some rage issues that he will have to overcome.  The reader can’t help but get caught up in their story as try to accept their destiny and battle an ancient curse.

The author has created a fantastic fantasy world with her own special spin on ancient legends and myth that spins a web and ensnares the reader.  The story has some surprising twists and lots of charming characters and takes the reader on a journey to historical Scotland.  Although I am a little unclear as to what the relics do, I really enjoyed Duncan and Brigid’s Quest and I can’t wait to see what the next knight’s quest will bring.

About Mary Morgan:

I am a constant daydreamer and have been told quite often to remove my head from the clouds. Yet, this is where I find the magic to write my stories. Not only do I love to weave a good tale, but I have a voracious appetite for reading. I worked for Borders Books for almost fourteen years. Imagine my delight to be surrounded by so many books, talking to others about them, and getting paid.

 Bliss!

I have traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland, and France. There are those who know me well when I say, “My heart is in the Highlands.” I believe I have left it there, or maybe in Ireland.

When not writing, I enjoy playing in my garden–another place where magic grows. Of course, there is time spent with my family. They are the ones that keep me grounded.
