Review: Bearly Ever (Arcadia Knights #1) by Olivia Gayle

What the book has to say:

When Ever Jackson came to Arcadia to find her missing sister, she certainly didn’t expect the close-minded response by residents of the small town. Nobody, it seemed, wanted to speak with or help her in any way, but she was determined to figure out her sister’s whereabouts. Too bad the pesky sheriff decided to stick his nose where it didn’t belong but, lawman or not, Ever wasn’t giving up and leaving Arcadia without a fight.

Sheriff Aidan Tucker preferred it when the human world stayed out of his Shifter town. He has a low opinion of humans to begin with, and having one poking around does nothing to endear himself to them. That is, until he gets a whiff of her, and realizes with a shock that the little spitfire who won’t back down from a fight is human, and his mate.

Well, hell.

The human could get herself killed without his help, so Aidan decides to tag along whether she wants it or not. But there are secrets in his town that go beyond mere shapeshifting, some even the Sheriff doesn't know, and Ever Jackson may be right in the middle of it all...

What I have to say:

Ever Jackson is in Arcadia looking for her sister and she doesn’t have time for the close minded residents even the sexy Sheriff Aidan Tucker but there are secrets in this town that even the sheriff isn’t aware of in this mesmerizing paranormal romance.

A town full of secrets and a whole world of trouble awaits the readers as they get drawn into this exciting romance as Aidan discovers that there is something sinister going on in Arcadia and his mate is right in the middle of it. The attraction between Aidan and Ever burns hot from the very beginning but not only is Ever unaware of shifters, she’s not too keen on the town of Arcadia’s attitude toward outsiders and with lots of fiery encounters that sets off plenty of sparks and the steamy sex scenes the reader can feel the smoldering heat from every page. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers captivated with lots of suspense, turmoil and romance while some snarky dialogue and feisty encounters adds some chuckles to the story.

Spine tingling tension and excitement build throughout the story as the danger gets turned toward to Aidan and Ever and a reprehensible plan is uncovered and expectation cultivates as Ever gets an unexpected introduction to Arcadia. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination while the well-orchestrated events ensure that the reader can’t put the story down.

I have to say that I was completely surprised by this book, the author has created a fascinating world with some unexpected and different elements that promises lots of future entertainment and the characters are charismatic and somewhat quirky ensuring that there is no way to know what will happen next, so I can’t wait to visit Arcadia again.

They’re hot. They’re total alpha males. They love their women with a singular ferocity.

Oh, and they sometimes shift into ferocious, furry animals. Because that’s the way they roll.

Welcome to Arcadia.

Hmm, what to say…

I’m a California girl (not the fun parts, sadly) married to an awesomesauce guy, living with a bunch of dogs and birds. In my spare time, I dream of world domination and power beyond imagining – at least for my characters. Paranormal Romance has always been my first love; that, and Urban Fantasy. I love mixing the two, which isn’t too difficult since romance is an adventure all its own.

One thing I love is to pull my favorite characters through the dirt and mud, make them bleed a little, before giving them their happy endings. Even then, it’s not always hunky-dory: I think that it’s the struggle that defines a person, not always the final goal. That said, I promise in all my stories to have:

1) A gorgeous, sexy man who loves his woman, would defend her to the death and beyond, and will follow her to the ends of the earth if need be;

2) Women who are strong, know how to take care of themselves, and don’t NEED a man to live their lives (heh, the guys are usually underfoot anyway trying to do the “protect” thing – eh, men)

3) Humor mixed with the drama, which is what makes good books IMO into great ones.
