Release Day Review: Misery Loves Company (Miss Misery #3) by Tracey Martin

Blurb:

Miss Misery, Book 3

Keep letting the Gryphons blackmail her? Or join a goblin for tea? Choices, choices.

Furious at the Gryphons’ betrayal, former vigilante Jessica Moore is determined to cut the law enforcement agency from her life—and hopes doing so will solidify her rocky relationship with Lucen.

When a friend’s soul is sucked dry by a goblin, Jess finds it’s not so easy to let go of her past. Unwilling to let down someone who needs help, she puts aside her anger to work with the Gryphons and solve the case.

A stolen soul isn’t her only problem. Boston’s goblin leader is calling in the debt Jess owes. To plug the holes in both her personal and professional dam, Jess must unearth information about a magic she never knew existed, all the while testing Lucen’s patience and stirring the wrath of old enemies.

What she discovers will reveal the terrifying truth behind the Gryphons’ treachery, and force her to choose where her loyalty—and her heart—truly lie.

Warning: Secrets will be revealed, friendships will be tested, and old enemies will pick fights. On the bright side, there are still naked satyrs for a distraction between battles.

My Review:

Jess is finding out it’s not so easy to let go of her past as she discovers the terrifying truth behind the Gryphons’ treachery in this riveting urban fantasy romance.

After the Gryphon’s betrayal, Jess wants nothing else to do with the law enforcement agency but circumstances puts her right back in the thick of things as she discovers the nefarious plots of the sylphs that include sucking souls dry. The reader can’t help but get caught up in all the intrigue and plotting of the different groups involved in the story as each has their own agenda and refuses to work together. This keeps Jess and the readers hopping from one agenda to the next ensuring there is never a dull moment. The characters continue to grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning and ensure that the readers come back for more.

The steady pace and smooth flowing plot does have a couple of slow scenes but it is full of intrigue and imparts a lot of information and in depth thoughts from Jess that is vital to the story and what comes next. Jess’s life is full of excitement and danger with everything that happens around her and impacts her personal life as she struggles with lots of personal strife. Then there is her love life which continues be complicated by the fact that even though her attraction to Lucen burns hot with frequent scorching hot sex scenes, she burns with desire for Devon which is encouraged by Lucen. Wow, twos sexy satyr hunks – I want some of that.

I have to say that the story reveals lots of secrets and there is lots of spine tingling adrenaline rushes to be had throughout the story along with surprising twists but what comes next promises to be even more interesting and thrilling so I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book.

About Tracey Martin:

Tracey Martin grew up outside of Philadelphia, the lucky recipient of a drama-free childhood, which is why she spent so much time reading about other people’s lives. It was while she was working on her doctorate in psychology that she had an epiphany–imaginary people are way more fun than real ones. And so she began writing. Never able to choose just one of anything, she currently writes both urban fantasy for adults and contemporary stories for teens.

She likes her coffee simple, her music epic, and her movies to contain explosions. A city girl at heart, she doesn’t understand how she and her husband ended up living in New Hampshire, but writing keeps her off the mean, small town streets.

Tracey is represented by Michelle Humphrey at the Martha Kaplan Agency and finds referring to herself in the third person to be very weird.
