Blurb:

(Off Goodreads)

"A delightful and complex mix of comedy and fantasy-a sensual love story set in a sensational world. I hope for more from this talented author."-USA Today bestselling author Christie Ridgway.
A Convenient Marriage . . . that can save-or destroy-a world
Connall Storm is a man with aspirations. A two-name bastard on the colony of Last Hope, he enters a pragmatic marriage hoping to discover a treasure that will give him the power and wealth he wants. But in order to find it, he and his new wife must embark on a perilous expedition into the Western Mountains-and come back alive. Little does he guess that guarding his heart against his exasperating and far-too-sexy wife will be the real challenge. . .
Arkana Crystal Song has blue blood, the finest education, and an unexpected, massively irritating new husband. All she wanted to do was find out what happened to her parents, who disappeared years ago. Now she's stuck trekking through the wilderness with a man who drives her absolutely crazy. And she's starting to like the feeling a bit too much . . .
It isn't long before Connall and Arkana's fiery arguments flare into scorching passion. But when they come across a deadly alien menace on their travels, their love will face the ultimate test. Are they strong enough to save themselves-and their entire world?

My Review:

A refreshingly different futuristic romance that keeps the reader guessing what comes next.

Married for convenience, Connall and Arkana leave on an expedition to learn what really happened to Arkana parents and discover that humans are not the as alone on their new home planet as they thought. The couple will have to find a way not only to survive the deadly alien menace, but how to turn their marriage of convenience into a happily ever after.

This steady paced plot keeps readers in suspense as the hero and heroine journey to a little explored area to learn the secrets of the past and what they learn proves to be deadly. The author brings the story to life with vivid imagery and details that make it easy for the reader to picture this fascinating new world.  The characters are strong, compelling, easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Connall and Arakana is strong but they both have other agendas and it takes a while for the chemistry to really ignite their passions. Their emotional issues and the growing danger also hinder the romance, but when they finally succumb to their passion it burns red hot. The author conveys the emotions, passions and personalities of the characters with a vibrant intensity that the reader can’t help but chuckle at Arkana’s exploits, curse Connall’s stubborn bossiness and let’s not forget the character’s antics that also add lots of feeling and depth to the tale.

I found the world the author created fascinating, sensual, spellbinding and humorous.  It has some unique elements that added lots of sensational details to entice the reader and paints a very tantalizing picture.  There were a few instances when I found the plot seemed to drag a little bit, but it was easily overlooked as the story quickly picked back up and it made for an entertaining read.
