(Off Goodreads)
Loupe always dreamed of getting married. She yearned for a caring husband who would take her away from her servant-like existence at home with her stepmother and two stepsisters, a man who would love her forever. Those dreams ended the day she was bitten by a werewolf. Now she’s a mindless beast on the night of the full moon—a condition that forever prevents her from sharing a marriage bed. Not even the attentions of a handsome and endearingly strong prince can convince her that the life she wants is still possible.
Etienne is a prince in need of a werewolf. A werewolf himself from birth, Etienne and his family have protected their kingdom with tooth and claw—literally—for thousands of years. Unfortunately, the spell of a well-meaning witch is slowly turning him human. Only the bite of a cursed werewolf, one who was not born with the beast inside, can save him from becoming human. He has no time for anything that will not lead him to a cure for the cure. Not even the beautiful maiden whose gentle nature soothes his soul can take his mind from his goal.
Love cares little for the best laid plans or the impossible. A grand ball. The stroke of twelve. A magic “slipper.” All kinds of things can happen when you don’t leave the ball…Before Midnight.
My Review
The first book in the Blood Prince series is an interesting and entertaining twist on a fairy tale.
She yearned for a caring husband who could take her away from her servant-like existence, but Loupe’s dreams ended the day she was bitten by a werewolf and now not even the attentions of a handsome prince can convince her that that life is still possible. Prince and werewolf Etienne is in need of a werewolf to break a well intentioned cursed placed on him that is slowly turning him human. So he really doesn’t have time for the beautiful maiden that soothes his soul, but love really doesn’t care for the best laid plans and all kinds of things can happen if you don’t leave the ball...Before Midnight.
This fast paced story has it all, suspense, some action, romance, a sexy werewolf prince, the evil stepfamily and the fairy tale ending. The author brings this wonderful romantic story to life with vivid images that makes it easy for the reader to pictures each and every scene. The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.
The attraction between Loupe and Etienne is the stuff dreams are made of and radiates from every scene. The author does a great job of conveying the emotions and personalities of the characters that in turn invokes the reader’s emotions as they empathize with Loupe’s plight and Etienne’s curse.
The author has created a charming and fascinating fairy tale world with paranormal elements that add depth and spice to each story. I love how she mixed the fairy tale with mythology and lore to make it a very unique story on its own. The wonderful characters ensure that you want to read more about the other princes and see how their stories work out.
