Book Review - The Sibylline Oracle / The Symbolon - Books 1 & 2 of The Sibylline Trilogy by Delia J Colvin

Our Book Review of Book 1 & 2 of The Sibylline Trilogy

The Sibylline Oracle Book 1 of The Sibylline Trilogy
Can love defy time?

When she's rescued by handsome Alex Morgan, Valeria thinks she's found her happy ending. But Alex knows the terrifying truth...time is running out! And unless they can discover the source of an ancient curse, fate will take her life...again. Greek Mythology and modern romance intertwine in this addictive trilogy.

THE SIBYLLINE TRILOGY - a love more enduring than life...than death...than destiny.

Our Review
I actually fell in love with this book, it seems to gently overtake you and you just keep wanting to read more and more.  It took me a little time to figure out who was who at the beginning as I'm not used to fantasy and mythology but my preferences in which genres I now read have certainly changed thanks to this book.

The book follows a pure depth of love between Alex and Valeria that has actually lasted centuries.  Alex is an immortal who is desperate to be reunited with his beloved Cassandra.  Unbeknownst to Valeria she is really the many times re-incarnated Cassandra who is cursed and unable to live past her 27th birthday.  Cassandra was the most powerful Sibylline Oracle, a prophetess who had powerful visions, even more powerful than that of Apollo's own oracles, the man who found and favoured her.  This led to strong jealousy of others especially Aegemon, Apollo's oracle, who she had taken the place of and who was set on revenge.

The story begins as Valeria's soul partner Alex, her Symbolon, rescues her for a near death experience just like he had tried so many times in the past.  Valeria is extremely attracted and mesmerized by Alex and out of character agrees to go away with him as a birthday treat to meet his family and found out more about the secrets Alex wants to share with her.  I did at this point feel Valeria's character was being extremely naive and wondered if that would really happen but that is the only tiny niggle I had about the whole read.

Alex and his immortal friends who were now his family had to try and rid Cassandra of her curse and try to make her immortal, like them, once and for all.  At the same time trying to help Valeria realise that she was really Cassandra without frightening her away.   I really enjoyed reading the connection between them all and the love they all shared and found myself so intrigued to find out more.

How can they stop this curse once and for all?  How can they stop Aegemon in his hateful tracks?  Now Valeria trusts them and realizes who she is and what's at stake how can they chance it all going wrong?

Quite an edge of the seat read with twists and turns keeping you on your toes and I truly loved it and couldn't wait to read the second book.

The Symbolon Book 2 of The Sibylline Trilogy
Can love defy fate?

The Symbolon, is the passionate second novel of The Sibylline Trilogy that weaves Greek mythology with a modern tale of eternal love! For 3000 years, Alex has dreamed of a life with his symbolon, his mortal soul mate. But when they approach the ancient council of immortals for approval of their marriage, they discover that sinister forces object to their union. Soon, they are faced with terrifying threats, including a devastating separation that neither may survive.

THE SIBYLLINE TRILOGY - a love more enduring than life...than death...than destiny.

Our Book Review
I couldn't wait to start book 2 of the trilogy.  You do think to yourself just how will the author continue the story from the first book......oh boy she does a great job!!

The book started with a bit of a shock, especially knowing about Alex's undying love for Cassandra, it did surprise me but then you learn it was in the past.

So the moment has finally come for the soul mates Alex and Cassandra to marry but before they do they have to meet in front of the council of immortals for permission.  This means they have to prove that Cassandra is now immortal which thankfully they do but things do not go plan, evil selfish forces are against their marriage.

What will happen?  Who can they trust?  Not everything is as it seems......

I'm not going to give any more away, you will have to enjoy reading the twists and turns throughout the story yourself just like I did and it will keep you hooked.  When you think that they have finally reached the light at the end of the desperate tunnel the author weaves her magic again and your left holding your breath for the next installment!!
