Book Review & Giveaway - Love and Other Subjects by Kathleen Shoop

Book Review & Giveaway - Love and Other Subjects by Kathleen Shoop

'beautifully written' said A Gluten Free Mom on reviewing Love and other subjects by Kathleen Shoop

"Love and Other Subjects is the perfect love story for teachers! As a teacher in an urban setting I easily slipped into the novel and cried along with Carolyn. As someone from inside the teaching profession, I could easily see the forbidden romance between the administrator and the burnt out teacher implode upon itself as it is wrought to do. You want it to be an exaggeration…but it’s not, and Kathleen Shoop nails it. It may have been a subplot, but I loved every moment of their interactions.

Carolyn Jenkins is the every fresh out of school first year teacher. Her drive and optimism can be seen in all first year’s eyes. I loved how it brought me back to my first year, also in an urban school–but middle school instead of elementary (those little ones are scary!).

Beautifully written, you can’t help but feel for Carolyn in her journey to find herself. That careful balance between personal life and work is often difficult to manage and Carolyn proves it time and time again. This trait makes her jump off the page as a real person; A person I would love to be friends with."
