She seemed like she thought in a linear fashion, which is why she was so good in all the actual preparation but when things didn't happen as it should or a wrench was thrown in the plans she didn't know how to step out of her box. In her mind, sticking to the plan was the best way.

I agree with Joey and Mandie, she wanted to keep her daughter safe but she was also trying to buy herself some time. She knew Charlie couldn't be trusted to keep his word. She just thought she would be able to catch her breathe and think of a plan to get them out of there. But Charlie "Crazy Pants" lost what little bit of humanity he had once he had the camp under his control.
