Interview with the author, Roxy Boroughs
Tell us a little bit about your book.
I started with the age-old question: if you could go back in time and kill someone like Hitler, would you?
What if you’re sent back to make sure a person like Abraham Lincoln died? What if your task is to protect his assassin? What if the future depends on it?
That was my starting point for WOLFEN TIME.
Special ops werewolf, Rafe Garrett, is sent on such a mission. If he fails, millions of innocent people will die.
Unfortunately, his goal collides with the heroine’s. As Stacy begins to fall in love with Rafe, she learns that for history to realign, she must sacrifice someone dear to her heart.
Big conflicts. High stakes. And a lot of lovemaking along the way.
Have you published before?
Yes. I’ve got a steamy romantic suspense series, and a Christmas series that features cozy mystery paired with a sweet romance. I’ve even got a romantic comedy with a cowboy hero.
Are you currently working on anything else?
I like to bounce between genres, so I’m currently working on a third book in my Psychic Heat series. It’s a romantic suspense and will complete the trilogy.
What is your favorite writing snack?
I have an ever-present cup of tea at my side. To cut back on caffeine, I’ve started drinking rooibos teas—with all sorts of flavorings. Maple, crème caramel, even chocolate. It’s like drinking dessert!
What gets you in the mood to write?
I have a series of musical soundtracks I use. They came in especially handy when I was writing a new story in the Frost Family Christmas series last July. I’d sit in my shorts, with the air conditioning on full blast, and listen to Christmas tunes.
For WOLFEN TIME, I wanted a driving beat, so I mostly listened to Apocolyptica.
I play only instrumental music when I’m writing. I find it difficult to type words when I’m listening to vocals.
Who is your favorite character and why?
As far as my books go, I love all of my characters. Even the villains. Of course, I focus the most on my hero and heroine. In WOLFEN TIME, that’s Stacey Cadell and Rafe Garrett. They’re both damaged, but they don’t give up. They’re fighters. And, as it turns out, lovers.
Favorite book of all time?
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I love everything about it—the innocence of the children vs the cruelty of prejudice, the spooky next door neighbor who ends up being the savior, and Atticus, who reminds me of my own dad.
I think breakfast says a lot about a person, what is your perfect breakfast?
Since my mom passed away, I’ve been having her favorite breakfast—a boiled egg on toast. (I add some ketchup, though, which she never did.)
Do you have a favorite period of time that you like to write about or would like to live?
I once had a job giving tours in historical houses, and had beautiful Victorian outfits to wear. I felt like a princess every day.
I’ve always had an affection for the silent movie era. I would have loved to be a film star back then. Again, great clothes. And cars.
And I think it would have been cool to live in ancient times—in Greece or Rome. Of course, as a woman, I would have been a second-class citizen back then. So maybe it wouldn’t have been so wonderful, after all.
Please tell us in one sentence why we should read your book!
WOLFEN TIME is a meaty story that’s got everything—high drama, adventure, seductive villains, a sexy hero, a kickass heroine, and a sensual and heartwarming love story. Enjoy!

All that separates them...is a century or two. Werewolf Rafe Garrett is second-in-command of a twenty-third century special ops team, sent back to present day Seattle to stop a group of renegade vampires from destroying the U.S. and causing the deaths of millions of innocent people. He has a personal vendetta, too. The renegades' leader is the same bloodsucker who murdered Rafe’s pregnant wife. Few humans can stake a vampire on their first try, but Stacy Cadell is that kind of gal—a ball of fire in a cool, petite package. Caught in the battle between vampires and werewolves, Stacy hides her true identity from both sides, fearing it could be used against her. But protecting her heart from the werewolf warrior with the killer good looks, is a fight she’s sure to lose. Especially when she learns that, for history to correct itself, she must sacrifice the one person she holds most dear. Contains: Hunky, alpha werewolves running around naked, sensual love scenes and mature language. If you read sweet romance, try CRAZY FOR COWBOY, or one of the novels from the series ‘A Frost Family Christmas.’
My first love was the theater. And my greatest professional thrill was acting on the same stage as Sarah Bernhardt—though not in the same century. I’ve had small parts in a few movies and TV shows, including the hit programs HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS and DEGRASSI JUNIOR HIGH. Writing is rather similar to acting, I believe. Except I get to play ALL the characters…while wearing my PJs and sipping tea. What could be better? I’m married to my first love—a wonderful guy. So I don’t just write romance, I live it!
