Tell us about your book(s) Into the End:
***America’s end is near.***

No one knows why, but the great country is under attack.

After being weakened by countless natural disasters, America opens its airspace for aid. But instead, what is left of the devastated west coast finds itself nearly obliterated from above. The key may belong to tests designed by a Pacific Northwest psychologist, Rachel Parker.

Rachel loses the love of her life in a house fire as they escape with their children to the nearby Rocky Mountains following the first round of air raids. In refuge, she faces her husband’s best friend, Joshua, but doesn’t want to face his ill-harbored feelings or her own inability to face fear.

Her sister, Brenda, escapes the fallen city, and, mistaken for Rachel, is captured. Terrified and alone, Brenda is protected by the enigmatic Daniel even while he helps keep her captive. Through torture and mind games, Brenda discovers information about her sister’s work that could spin the free world into a tumultuous frenzy where the unknown is safer than reality.

Can one woman's inability to feel fear destroy a nation?

Through the Flames (#2):
Allies = All Lies

America is burning. The unknown blinds the citizens from fighting.

Dr. Rachel Parker’s worst psychological designs are loosed on America by an unknown enemy. She leaves the safety of the mountains for the destruction of town to face her co-designer, Daniel, whose role is blurred by the smoke of deception. Captured by militia, Rachel has to find the answers she’s seeking. She’s not prepared to look within her own damaged mind for the solutions. Rachel’s frame of sanity and emotional stability lay on the line parallel to the country’s circumstances.

Brenda Krous, Rachel’s sister, possesses information that could change the face of the war. Sacrifices to get there become more and more personal until the “Brenda” she was and the “Brenda” she is becoming hit a crossroads. If she finds the compassion to help her sister, her patriotism to the nation might be sacrificed.

Out of the Ashes (#3):
America can rise, but the cost is high.

Traumatized by previous exposure to her own tests, Dr. Rachel Parker has to complete the methodical steps she swore would never see the light of day… on herself. Her sister, Brenda Krous, may be the only one capable of pulling her through intact.

If they can accomplish the feat and find resolution together, the answers they discover can help the rest of America rise up and reclaim itself from the protection of destruction.

But a nation’s fall has a time frame and pride can get in the way. Rachel and Brenda must find what they need in each other to conquer the fear in others.

Where did the idea of your (latest) book come from?  Oddly enough, the series took a strange twist during the second book. The original hero and heroine no longer held the roles and jobs shifted. People no longer held up as they originally seemed. I loved so many things about the potential of betraying one's self because of fear, it was easy to write and love the characters - even as I killed them off.

Who and what inspires you to write your books? My readers. Plain and simple. There is something about a reader's email that keeps me writing - or a FB comment. It fuels a need inside me to churn out more words, more plots, more Rom-Action.

Each author has his/her own fascinating journey. How did you begin writing? A woman whom I had no real connection with pulled me out of class one day and asked if I'd be willing to critique her stuff. She also offered to read mine - I just hadn't been writing anything because I'd forgotten my dreams of becoming an author. She didn't pursue the writing path, but I couldn't help myself. something had been unleashed and I could no longer control it.
Interestingly enough, though, I started out as a romance writer and now find myself tromping down the thriller/suspense/mystery road - AND loving every second of it.

What has been the most pleasant surprise about being a writer? How about the most unexpected downside?Pleasant surprise would be the pleasure of being traditionally published. Unexpected downside would be the rejections or bad reviews that can sting with a sour burn. Nothing's personal, but all writing is personal.

Do you have any particular writing routines or rituals?  I do! I have to have Criminal Minds on the TV while I write. Wierd, I know. But I love the storylines and the characters. Love it.

Do you write in order? Yes, I'm neurotic about writing in order. But I never plot, either. I let the characters choose their problems and if them make it out, awesome, if not, oh well. They did it, not me *grin*.

What is on your playlist when you write?  I can't listen to music when I write. I just want to dance. Editing, yes, music, and I would have to say, I'm old school - Pat Benatar, Journey, Aerosmith, Boston, Scorpions, and some new stuff, Adele, Pink, Garth Brooks, the fun ones!

Favorite writing snack? HEHEHE I love this question... I would have to say chocolate covered cinnamon bears. Oh my heavens!

Where do you like to write?  In my Laz-E-Boy in the living room.

Do you have any advice for authors wanting to publish? Edit. And Edit. Edit. And then Edit some more. Oh and WRITE! You won't have anything to edit if you haven't written. And to hang in there. Nothing is harder than writing. But you can do it. I promise.

Are you currently working on anything else? Yes. I am currently working on a psychological thriller called Dictating Desire. I love it!

Who is your favorite character and why? My favorite of all male characters would be Paul from my YA zombie romance series, Barely Alive. My favorite female is Brenda from the Into the End series. She is tough and funny and so easy to get along with.

Favorite book of all time? Ashes in the Wind - Kathleen E. Woodiwiss

Breakfast says a lot about a person. What is your perfect breakfast? I love that you talk food. It makes my day! Perfect breakfast? Don't think me a pig, but I love to start the day right. Okay, I love Belgian waffles with strawberries and omelets with veggies and ham and cheese. All together. I love it. With hot chocolate. Oh man, I'm hungry now!

Please tell us in one sentence why we should read your book. My series examines the possibilities of a country being betrayed and the cost of true fear when the end comes to us all - wouldn't you like to be prepared?

Bonnie R. Paulson mixes her science and medical background with reality and possibilities to make even myths seem likely and give every romance the genetic strength to survive. Bonnie has discovered a dark and twisty turn in her writing that she hopes you enjoy as much as she has enjoyed uncovering it. Dirt biking with her family in the Northwest keeps her sane.

Into the End – Book #1

Rachel Parker in Into the End can IDENTIFY fear, she can DEFINE it, but she doesn’t feel it. Not anymore. Not since the tests.

Her inability to feel fear may be the reason why the rest of America is screaming in terror.
