Tell us about your book(s)

Crimson Flames—Half-vampire Abby Tate's newly discovered powers are the key to the Council’s victory over a group of evil vamps who will do anything possible to remove the hybrid threat. With no other options, Abby is forced to rely on the aid of the Council, yet can she trust them? Even worse, can she fight the unwelcome attraction that's growing between her and one of those ancient vampire rulers?

Crimson Groves—Bronx the vampire barges into Abigail Tate's life and forcibly turns her, then holds her captive. When a chance to escape arises, it's with the aid of an innocent human—except vampires are forbidden to interact with the unbitten. But Abby learns this human has secrets of his own...secrets that can help or get her killed. Only Abby soon discovers that she was the one with the biggest secret of all.

UnGuarded—Guardian angel Selene was close to becoming an archangel—until she fell in love with a vampire. Now her dark lover has been kidnapped and the only way to save him is by abandoning her human charge. But her choice to save him doesn’t come without a price. Selene must push her dwindling abilities to where she risks becoming fallen, praying she can save the ones she loves before her fate is sealed.

Where did the idea of your (latest) book come from?

Crimson Flames is currently my newest release and it's a sequel to Crimson Groves, which was where some of the ideas came from.

Who and what inspires you to write your books?

Other authors. Anything paranormal.

Each author has their own fascinating journey. How did you begin writing?

Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve always loved to write, especially about everything going on in my so-called life. It began with songs and poems that eventually—as I got older—turned into short stories and plays. I loved my high school English classes, and my teachers always gave me accolades (and good grades) on my essays, and not long after that, those essays began evolving into things with a more paranormal twist. And once my college English professors expressed the same satisfaction with my work as my high school teachers did, I knew this might be a career to pursue. But God obviously had other plans for me in the form of a real-estate job. So fast-forward fifteen years from then (and me working 24/7 as a realtor) to when I was finally given an amazing opportunity by my husband: to abandon a career that consumed all of my time and focus on one that was more flexible and would allow me more time with my family. I have one poetry book published and three paranormal romance thrillers—one of them falling into a YA sub-genre, the others leaning more New Adult.

What has been the most pleasant surprise about being a writer? How about the most unexpected downside?

The most pleasant surprise is when I finish a book...the unexpected downside is definitely editing

Do you have any particular writing routines or rituals?

Not really. I like to mix up where I write...sometimes home, sometimes out.

 Do you write in order?

Yes. Though sometimes during editing, I may shift some things around.

What is on your playlist when you write?

Right now I'm listening to Sounds of the Season on Brighthouse. I love house music too.

Favorite writing snack?

cashews and almonds. apples

Where do you like to write?

At home, I'm either in the breakfast nook or dining room. When I go out, I'll sit at the bar.

Do you have any advice for authors wanting to publish?

When publishing yourself, there are extra fees and expenses that you eat up front with hopes of making back in book revenue. Indie authors are on their own with hiring a professional editor, which I highly recommend (mine is Stephen Delaney with Close Reader Editing), getting a dramatic book cover created (I use Claudia with PhatpuppyArt)—and trust me, a lot of people judge a book by its cover—policing the printing company since they seem to screw up your manuscript during their ‘formatting’ procedure, and then waiting patiently for the finals to arrive. And that’s just the beginning.

Once your book is ready, it’s time to spread the word, market it everywhere, seek wonderful book bloggers to review it, and host interviews and giveaways, all the while praying they’ll love it and give it a good rating. Honestly, it’s a full-time job just working on that, plus you’ve got to keep writing your next best seller too. (smiles)

Are you currently working on anything else?

Yes. My first novella currently titled Death Dealer, however, that's definitely going to change.

Who is your favorite character and why?

Currently my fave character that I’ve written is Abby from the Crimson series. In my newest release, Crimson Flames, she’s stronger now that she’s embraced the fact that she’s a vampire hybrid and she isn’t taking any more crap from anyone. She’s made some tough decisions that could end up getting her killed, but she doesn’t let her fear stand in the way of doing what’s right. I’m very proud of how Abby has become more confident in herself and her powers, and she’s gotten a lot feistier too.

 Favorite book of all time?

Halfway to the Grave—Jeaniene Frost

I think breakfast says a lot about a person, what is your perfect breakfast?

Six days a week it's a quest protein bar (either cinnamon roll or banana bread flavor)
On Saturday "Cheat Day" it's real cinnamon rolls or homemade pancakes with maple syrup.

Please tell us in one sentence why we should read your book

Because my books are well-written, professionally edited, the stories are fast-paced and heart-gripping, and I've received numerous great reviews on Amazon and Good Reads.
